Cup: 3-7 cm across, ovoid when young, later campanulate to conical, with a split and uplifted margin when old, surface covered with brownish squamules on a gray-brown background from the center outward, glabrescent when old.
Himenio: first are lamellae white, later becoming increasingly brown, black from the edges toward the base, broad, ascending and finely adnexed, smooth.
Esporas: elliptical, 7,6-10 x 5-6 μm
Pié: 8-18 x 0,8-1,6 cm, cylindrical, slightly tapered toward the apex, base fusiform, rooting with a knot-like, thickened annular zone, hollow, fragile, surface above white finely longitudinally fibrillose.
Carne: white, thin, undistinguished odor and taste.
Hábitat: gregarious in crowded to clustered forests, in parks, gardens, fields, meadows, grows in spring and fall.
Comestibilidad: edible only young mushrooms
