Detailed description


Cap: 4-8 cm across, ovoid-campanulate when young, later convex to plane, center somewhat obtusely umbonate, satiny smooth surface, olive-brown to gray-olive, grooved-striate, center usually covered with sepparated gray-whitish veil remnants, margin acute, striate.
Hymenophore: smooth, white when young, later cream colored, broad.
Spore print: white
Spore: globose to subglobose, (9,2)10,2-12,5(14,7) x 9-12,5(14,2) μm
Stem: 5-10 x 0,8-1,2 cm, cylindrical, slightly thickend toward the base, hollow, fragile, white surface when young, finely longitudinally white-fibrillose, base with a membranous, lobed volva which is first white, later gray.
Flesh: white, thick in the center, thin toward the margin, odorless, mild nutty taste.
Habitat: usually solitary in montane coniferous forests, on acid soils, grows from summer to fall.
Edibility: inedible
