Cap: 4-8 cm across, obtusely conical when young, soon convex to plane, satiny smooth surface, gray-brown to violet-brown, with irregulary distributed gray-violet veil remnants, margin acute, smooth, not striate.
Hymenophore: lamellae are smooth, white, broad, free.

Stem: 7-10 x 0,7-2 cm, cylindrical, enlarged and bulbous toward the base, solid stipe, later hollow, fragile, whitish apex, longitudinally striate, increasing gray-violet to violet-brown toward the base, upper surface paler and striate.
Flesh: white, gray-violet under cuticle, thin, moldy odor, nutty taste.
Habitat: in coniferous forests at spruce, pine and larch, on acid soils, grows from summer to fall.
