Detailed description


Cap: 7-10(12) cm, first conical, soon konvex to plane with an obtuse umbo and depressed center, smooth with fine appresed radial fibrils, yellow, olive to gray brown, up to one third striate, margin is paler and obtuse.
Hymenophore: lamellae are whitish, broad, free.
Spore print: white, hyalin
Spore: globose to subglobose, 9,1-13,1 x 9,1-12,1 μm
Stem: 10-13 x 1-1,2 cm, cylindric, gradually enlarged toward the base, apex is little widened, fragile, first solid, later hollow, increasingly red gray brown mottled on a pale ocher background toward the base, apex is finely red brown floccose, base is with a membranous, adherent, dingy white, sometimes weak defined volva.
Flesh: white, in center thick, toward the margin thin, odorless, taste is mild, nutty.
Habitat: solitary to grouped in coniferous forests, on silicate soils, montane to subalpine, grows from summer to fall.
Edibility: edible only cooked
Remarks: similar with Amanita submembranacea which has veil remnants on cup.
