Detailed description


Cap: 3-10 cm across, convex when young, later plane to expanded, with an obtuse umbo, sometimes depressed in the center, finely velutinous-tomentose, white to cream-white, smooth surface, often irregularly undulating in age.
Hymenophore: lamellae are pale white when young, later pink, decurrent, edges smooth, somewhat undulating.
Spore print: pink
Spore: fusiform-elliptic, 9,8-12,6 x 4,5-5,4 μm
Stem: 2-3,5 x 0,8-1 cm, often eccentric, cylindrical, enlarged toward the apex, base tapering or sometimes enlarged, stipe solid, whitish, dull.
Flesh: white, thick in the center and thin toward the margin, farinaceous odor and taste, sometimes little bitterish.
Habitat: in hardwood and coniferous forests, forest clearings, on pathsides, in pastures, on neutral to slightly basic moist, nutrent-rich soils, grows from summer to late fall.
