Detailed description

Fruiting body: 3-6 cm, young is outside whitish smooth exoperidium, from the base upward blackish frosted, later exoperidium dries and disapperas, then appears dark red brown endoperidium, at maturity tears it into 1-3 cm opening, from which spores come through.
Hymenophore: dark red brown to black
Spore print: olive brown
Spore: globose, warty dotted, with 1 drop, 4-6,5 μm
Flesh: gleba: first white, later olive to dark brown, odor mild, taste mild.
Habitat: solitary to gregarious in hardwood and mixed forests, between Grass, montane to alpine, grows from summer to fall.
Edibility: edible only young mushrooms
