Detailed description


Cap: 3,5-12 cm diameter, hemispherical when young, later convex to plane with an indeted center, light brown surface when young, later progressively spliting into concentric, appressed, fibrillose scales on a whitish background, center remaining light brown.
Hymenophore: smooth light gray-brown, thick-walled.
Spore print: purple-brown.
Spore: elliptical, 5,4-7,4 X 3,7-4,8 μm
Stem: 3-7 X 1-3 cm, cylindrical base at times somewhat enlarged with a rhizoid, solid, rigid, white surface and dull above and below the annulus. Yellowing to browning base when bruised or rubbed, white pendant usually fugacious.
Flesh: white, thick with light tendency to turn brown when cut, odorless, taste is mild, not distinctive.
Habitat: solitary to gregarious in gardens, parks meadows, grows from summer to fall.
Edibility: inedible
