Detailed description


Cap: 6-20 cm across, convex with inrolled margin when young, later plane and depressed, obtuse umbo, first finely tomentose surface, dark gray-brown, somewaht pruinose, later radially fibrillose, dull, light gray brown to beige gray, sometimes darker toward the center, margin regular when young, later irregularly undulating to cleft, peelable cuticle.
Hymenophore: yellow-ocher, with broad, smooth lamellae, easily separable from the cup flesh.
Spore print: yellowish
Spore: elliptic, 5,3-7,4 X 3,5-4,4 μm
Stem: 6-10 x 1,5-3 cm, clavate when young, later cylindrical, gray-brown with longitudinally fibrils, sometimes also grooved, base strongly attached to the substrate by white mycelium, solid, hollow when old, corticate.
Flesh: white, thick when young, thin when old, soft, odor unpleasant, taste little sourish.
Habitat: in hardwood and coniferous forests and parks, among bushes, on soil, grows from fall to early winter.
Edibility: poison
