Detailed description


Cap: 3-5 cm across, first hemispherical, soon conic, old plane, with a small obtuse umbo, smooth to finely fibrillose floccose, straw to gold yellow, if touched yellowing, center and the marginal zone are purple to lilac brownish, margin is acute and split in age.
Hymenophore: lamellae are young pale gray, old dark gray purple brown, broad, free, often forked on stem, edges are white denticulate.
Spore print: dark purple brown
Spore: elliptic, 4,7-5,9 x 3,2-4,1 μm
Stem: 3-4 x 0,5-0,7 cm, cylindric, base is clavate bulbous, hollow, rigid, fragile, smooth, young whitish, if touched yellow, old purple brown, annulus white, thin pendent, very fugacious.
Flesh: whitish, if cut yellow, thin, odor is pleasant like anise or almonds, taste is mild.
Habitat: solitary to gregarious in coniferous forests and mixed hardwood conifer forests, under spruce on needle litter, grows from summer to fall.
Edibility: inedible
Remarks: similar with Agaricus purpurellus, which is lilac, and with Agaricus xantholepis, which has purple tones on cup.
