Detailed description


Cap: 5-9 cm across, convex, becoming centrally depressed with an arched margin and eventually vase-shaped, whitish to pale pinkish or pale orangish pink, sticky when fresh, covered with a dense layer of appressed hairs.
Hymenophore: lamellae are whitish to pinkish, sometimes stained slowly yellowish by the milk where damaged, broadly attached.
Spore print: white
Spore: elliptical with ornament, 6,5-8,5 x 5,4-6,5 μm, with partially net-like connected ribs, rarely also solitary warts.
Stem: 2-4 x 0,4-1,2 cm, more or less equal colored like the cap, dry, bald, occasionally with vague brownish spots.
Flesh: whitish to pinkish, sometimes stained slowly yellowish by the milk where damaged. Odor sweet, taste little acrid. Milk: white, next day yellow, when young many, later little.
Habitat: in moist acidic soil under birch trees, in parks, grows from august to october.
Edibility: poisonous
