Detailed description


Cap: 5-10 cm across, first plane convex, later flattened and dented in the center, in wet slimy, reddish brown with a violett tint, in dry lighter, pink ocher or light brown, zoned on margin, margin first inrolled, later smooth and sharp.
Hymenophore: young are lamellae white, later yellow ocher to orange ocher, broad, many forked.
Spore print: ocher
Spore: subglobose, 6,4-7,9 x 5,8-7 μm, ornament, with arts and ribs, which are net like connected.
Stem: 3-5 x 1,5-2,5 cm, cylindric, on the base little narrow, smooth to fibrous, in moist sticky, first cream, later orange ocher, brown stained, lighter above.
Flesh: white, slowly turning yellow, first odor like fruit, later spiced, taste acrid. Milk: white, unchangeable, acrid.
Habitat: solitary or gregarious on moist needle forests, along the ways, by pine, grows from summer to fall.
Edibility: inedible
Remarks: Lactarius hysginus var. americanus: cup 4-10 cm, flattened, viscous, hymenophore: cinnamon brown; stem 4-7 cm; spore: 6-7,5(8) x 5,5-7 μm Lactarius hysginus var. subroseus: cup 5-7 cm, flattened, later infundibuliform, viscous, brown in the middle; spore: 6-7,5 x 5-6,5 μm
