Detailed description


Cap: 2-8 cm across, first convex, later increasingly expanded with an indented to umbilicate center, old almost unfundibuliform, and undualting, hygrophanous, smooth, dull, gray to ocher brown and sometimes butyraceous if wet, if dry light beige to yellow beige, margin is incurved for a long time, little crenate, in age undulating.
Hymenophore: lamellae are whitish, later pink flesh colored, broad, notched and broadly adnate, edges are sometimes smooth to little undulating.
Spore print: rust brown
Spore: 5-7 angled, 7-10,1 x 6,7-9,3 μm
Stem: 4-11 x 0,3-1 cm, cylindric, apex and base are sometimes enlarged, hollow, corticate, stiff, fragile, smooth, satiny, white to light yellowish, also dingy white, strongly longitudinally fibrillose, apex is white powdered.
Flesh: whitish, thin, odorless, taste is mild, sometimes herbaceous.
Habitat: solitary to gregarious in hardwood and mixed hardwood conifer forests, near beech, on soil or among leaf litter, grows from late summer to fall.
Edibility: poisonous
Remarks: similar with Entoloma politum, which is more darker, and with Entoloma rhodopolium fo. nidorosum, which odor is nitrous.
