Detailed description


Cap: 6-12 cm across, young hemispherical, later convex to flattened, dented in the center, dull to satin-shiny, in wet greasy and shiny, violet, red to blackbrown, also lighter, margin smooth, weak zoned serrated, cap skin removable to half.
Hymenophore: first white, later orange, thin adnate, only few forked.
Spore print: yellow, IVe
Spore: subglobose, 8,5-12,8 x 7,6-11,1 μm, ornament, with isolated standed, rarely also elongated sharp, spiny warts.
Stem: 5-10 x 1,5-2,5 cm, cylindrical, slightly tapered toward the base, finely longitudinally veined, white, young also white frosted, later smooth, base dirty brownish.
Flesh: white, after some time light brownish, odor like spple, taste first mild, later after long chewing acrid.
Habitat: gregarious in conifer and mixed forests, by spruce, fir and pine, on fresh to moist, neutral to basic soils, grows from summer to fall.
Edibility: inedible
Remarks: similar with Russula integra, which taste is after long chewing mild.
